CCPO ready for Palarong Pambansa security

Romeo D. Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Security preparations are underway for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2024, which will be hosted by Cebu City in July.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director Col. Ireneo Dalogdog said they are ready to secure the delegates for the biggest sporting event in the country. Dalogdog said their successful security measures in the recently concluded Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet serve as dry run for the Palarong Pambansa.

Dalogdog said the city’s hosting of CVIRAA Meet has been a huge success without any untoward incidents. He said the CCPO recorded zero crime incident involving CVIRAA athletes and officials.

Since more athletes and officials will be joining for the Palarong Pambansa compared to the CVIRAA, Dalogdog said they would also deploy more security personnel.

“Medyo maano to siya, daghan og contingents na, unlike this one atong mga athletes na-account nato nasa mga 12,866 lang so siguro pag Palarong Pambansa na basig times 2 or times 3 ba ang number of athletes during Palarong Pambansa,” Dalogdog said.

Meanwhile, the augmented personnel during the CVIRAA were already recalled to their respective units yesterday.

Dalogdog thanked all the security personnel and commended them for a job well done in securing the CVIRAA Meet.
