Pop culture's  end of an era

The couple that we saw grow before our own eyes is now over. Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla finally confirmed their breakup on both their social media accounts. Speculations were already raised for a few weeks now but nobody from both parties seemed to address the elephant in the room. Last night, as most of us were all rushing to get to our homes and year-end parties, Kath broke her silence. In a lengthy note, she explained her never-ending love for Deej despite the setbacks. Their fans were also addressed in the message saying how they will still continue to be family to one another.

Bernando calls this part of her life as a "closed chapter" she wishes to never look back on again. The heartfelt message written by her broke most Filipino fans; this writer included. You see, they were not just celebrities who donned different roles in the projects that they took. They were a symbol that fame and a relationship could work.

Fans referred to this couple as "Kathniel", a play on words of both their names. They prided themselves as one of the most celebrated couples in Philippine entertainment. In fact, most of their lines, roles, and costumes are now transformed into a pop culture initiative. This couple more commonly known as "Kathniel" is one of the most celebrated throughout the country.

Both started as a teenage love team which eventually paved the way to an off-screen relationship. Their fanbase grew in just a few years because both were so down-to-earth. As their presence slowly leaves different platforms, it will usher in another era of pop culture. Their time in the limelight together will slowly dim. On the other hand, this will also be an opportunity for rising actors to give it their shot. Yet, it doesn't mean that it will heal the wounds of the past. Just as she said, we will all get through this.

It will be interesting to continue observing how this will change the course of our media landscape. Networks are now bound to field new faces as a love team; a pair that is synchronous with each other. They say that is how to know if they are compatible with each other. Meanwhile, this period will be moments of grief for those who were really close to both individuals.

I guess that's just how it goes. We get into a trance of love until all its magic becomes a norm. It is a challenge now for men to maintain the spirit and vigor, as the years progress. The entertainment landscape will never be the same. What they made was massive and tremendous. They both deserve love and support until the end.

Whoever gets the chance will have to prove their authenticity to the Filipino audience. Once their content will be palatable to the Filipinos, then a new phenomenon begins. That's how it is and there are some factors that are beyond our control. We wish them the best.
