CEBU, Philippines —  Members of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Cebu Chapter kicked off Broadcasters’ Month celebration Sunday, September 3.

They started around 7:00 in the morning with a parade from Plaza Independencia to the University of San Carlos Downtown Campus in Cebu City followed with the mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Kristo Suhardi, SVD.

“As broadcaster, let us strive to be pure and righteous from within our minds. Often, we focus too much on improving our physical appearance and forget to improve the quality of our minds. People will get bored with a beautiful face, but they will never get bored with a kind heart,” Suhardi said in his homily.

Other activities followed such as games and the Search for Mr. and Ms. KBP 2023.

Adjudged as Mr. and Ms. KBP were Gabriel Miranda of iFM 93.9 and Meljean Mampandig of Yes the Best 91.5, respectively.

Around 20 KBP member stations in Cebu attended the opening of the month-long celebration held every month of September.

KBP-Cebu president Alan “Abay Mon” Montesclaros of Energy FM thanked all those participated the opening celebration as well as their sponsors.

Montesclaros said the broadcast industry in Cebu is still alive and continues spreading of good news and renders public service.

He also emphasized that social media are tools being used by mainstream media to serve the public and not as competitors.
