President Sergio Osmeña’s appointees in Leyte - Part 5

Don Sergio Suico Osmeña Sr., who became the first and only Cebuano to become president, took his oath in the United States on August 1, 1944 upon the death of President Quezon. He came to the Philippines on October 20, 1944 together with Gen. Douglas MacArthur in the famous, Leyte Landings. Osmeña made the Leyte Provincial Capitol as his office. The following were his appointees in the Province of Leyte:

Benito Prejulas, appointed acting mayor of Duramon, Leyte, October 6, 1945.

Julia Luman, appointed acting mayor, and Antero Treceno, acting vice mayor of La Paz, Leyte, October 6, and 18, 1945, respectively.

Ruperto Aterrado, Pablo Caslim, Andres Carson, Julian A. Baltazar, Gavino A. Maurillo, and Severino Aguirre, appointed acting councilors of La Pas, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Francisco Villafranes, appointed acting mayor, and Sixto Agulo, acting vice mayor of Pastrana, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Isidro Nielo, Macario Alda, Apolonio Polonis, Epifanio, Modesto, Julian Villablanca, and Pedro Brosas, appointed acting councilors of Pastrana, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Maximo Cobradilla, appointed acting vice mayor of Calubian, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Feliciano Caneja, Julianito Serrallos, Conrado Cabanos, Rufino Mansueto, Fabian Cabalhin, and Jose Caballan, appointed acting councilors of Calubian, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Francisco Ido, appointed acting vice mayor of Tacloban, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Nicolas Benedicto, Emilio Benitez, Vicente Romualdez, Arcadio Ortiz, Epifanio Aguirre, Margarita V. Setalilla, Dionisio Marave, and Alipio Casilan, appointed acting councilors of Tacloban, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Wenceslao Pongos, appointed acting mayor, and Porfirio Ayoyaw, acting vice mayor of Ormoc, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Ricardo Martinez, Saturnino Villeria, Pastor C. Tan, Andres Masias, Flaviano Montesclaros, Felipe Avestruz, Vitoriano Laurente, and Guillermo Parilla, appointed acting councilors of Ormoc, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Pablo Ontimare, appointed acting mayor, and Simeon de Cadiz, acting vice mayor of Dagami, Leyte, October 18, 1945.

Juan Veneruela, Vicente Gerilla, Victoriano Bayona, Martin Sudario, Eleuterio Maray, and Fermin Limchaypo, appointed acting councilors of Dagami, Leyte, October 18, 1945. (To be continued)
