We are now headed toward the end of July and in six months time Cebu and the Philippines would be celebrating the 500th year of Catholicism in the Far East. I’ll have you know that on Oct. 31, 1517 a priest named Martin Luther wrote to his bishop Albrecht Von Brandenburg to protest the sale of indulgences. This ended up with the Catholic Church broken into many Protestant churches that has reached 47,000 denominations while it is against the one holy apostolic Catholic Church.
However only a few people realize that God knows what is happening to his people on this earth. Just a few years after Martin Luther made his protest against the Catholic Church, who would have predicted that God would send three Catholic ships to this part of the world where they arrived in the shores of Cebu bringing Portuguese explorer in the employ of the Spanish King, Ferdinand Magellan who christianized Rajah Humabon and his wife Queen Juana on April 14, 1521. It was then that they were gifted with the holy image of the Señor Sto. Niño, which we still have in the Basilica in Cebu City. So 500 years later the Philippine population has now reached 104 million Filipinos while the population of Europe has dwindled drastically.
Today, Christianity is under siege. Churches are being burned and defaced in China by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) while magnificent churches in France like the Norte Dame Cathedral and very recently the Cathedral in Nantes have been set on fire. In the United States which is proud of its law citing religious freedom, the Catholic Church is under attack, where statues of St. Juniper Serra were torn down in San Francisco and statues of our Lord Jesus Christ defaced and the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary decapitated because they are supposed to be white supremacists. In truth, they are giving this misinformation to the people as they are in reality atheists just like communists who do not believe in God.
Who is doing this? They call themselves Black Lives Matter (BLM). But now it can be told that BLM got $33 million from George Soros whose only role is to find ways to destroy the American way of life. After a thorough search as to who really runs BLM, I found out that its founder is an avowed Marxist… and just this week, its co-founder was quoted saying that their plan is to destroy the United States of America. Who is supporting BLM? The Democrats! Wow! Avowed communists are being supported by the Democrats… no wonder things are going crazy in America.
To keep myself from being bored I turn to the internet or YouTube and one of my favorite shows is that Bishop Robert Barron of Word on Fire. However I also listen to Dr. Taylor Marshall in YouTube who had a question he threw to Bishop Barron as to what we should do to protect the churches and statues in America.
Bishop Barron replied to Dr. Marshall, “It’s not the Bishops’ job, to police the church, it is the job of the Laity, as you can see in Vatican II.” So when Dr. Marshall asked Bishop Barron where can I find it in Vatican II? Then Bishop Barron blocked him and never replied to Dr. Marshall! Thus I pride myself as a very conservative Catholic who has stopped listening to Bishop Barron for he has shown his true colors!
Mind you, today Christianity is also under attack here at home, this time from the 18th Congress with the proposed House Bill No 4633 “An Act making hanging of religious mementos such as crucifixes in hospital suites optional.” This is authored by SAGIP Partylist Rep. Rodante Marcoleta. Delicadeza should have dictated that Rep. Marcoleta to not sponsor this proposal.
Perhaps Rep. Marcoleta maybe smarting or is still in the clouds after he and his fellow Congressmen denied ABS-CBN its franchise. He doesn’t realize that by removing the Crucifix in this very Catholic country, he will be up against angry Catholics who at this point are asking the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in frontally attacking this proposal.
If the CBCP doesn’t take a stand against the Marcoleta Bill it is called the sin of omission. In Catholic teaching, an omission is a failure to do something one can and ought to do. If an omission happens deliberately and freely, it is considered a sin. I certainly hope that the CBCP would come up with a statement against this clear disrespect of Catholic symbols.
