Guides in choosing the right candidates

In a few days from now millions of Filipinos will troop to the polling places to elect the leaders that will lead us in the next three years. The question that will come up is how to identify and choose the right ones. The good news is that all questions relative to our existence can be found in the Bible. Be it about human relationship, proper demeanor, right conduct, etc., all answers are there in the scriptures.

Going back to how to identify and choose the right people, there's a passage in the Bible which says, "By their fruits you shall know them." Meaning a good tree bears good fruits but the bad or sickly ones bears bad fruits. Applying this Biblical guide in our political exercise, all we have to do is to make a sort of research on the candidate’s track record and if he or she is above board in his or her stint in the government and is not involved in any form of corruption. Let us not be swayed by a candidate's looks, or his or her being a celebrity, or coming from rich and prominent families, but we must stick to the guiding light given in the scriptures.
