What kind of ailment does the president have?

October is called the Pink Month, which is the month to advocate our concern for all women, as it is Breast Cancer Advocacy month. Straight from the Sky has always joined this observation since my dear friend Me’an Solomon asked me to be her prayer warrior when she got stage 2 breast cancer. She has since been free of this disease and has been Cebu’s foremost champion in this fight for women’s lives. As we all know early detection of breast cancer is the best way to fight this disease.

So tonight we have with us a thorough discussion of breast cancer with Mary Anne Alcordo Solomon, Cebu Coordinator for I Can Serve, she’s also past district governor of Rotary International District 3860. With her is Dr. Arnold John B. Uson, medical oncologist of the Cebu Cancer Institute of Perpetual Succour Hospital and Chong Hua Cancer Center, who teaches us about early detection and other things that women need to know about breast cancer.

President Rodrigo Duterte said last Thursday that he might have cancer saying he waiting for the results of recent medical tests. Apparently, he underwent an endoscopy and colonoscopy about three weeks ago but his doctor was advised this week to repeat the tests. Both tests aim to diagnose any abnormality in his digestive tract and colon. While he says he may have cancer, I tend to believe he has a kidney or liver problem. Just look at the color of his face, which is very dark.

The 73-year-old president also said: “I don’t know where I’m now physically but I have to wait for that. But I would tell you if it’s cancer, it’s cancer.” He also said: “If it’s third stage, no more treatment. I will not prolong the agony in this office or anywhere.” Presidential spokesman Harry Roque told reporters earlier that Duterte is fine but will inform the public if he has a serious ailment as required by the Constitution. “The president is a lawyer. He will inform and conform with the Constitution if there’s a serious health ailment, but there is none,” said Roque.

So the question the whole nation is asking is “what kind of ailment does he have?” If it is cancerous, at what stage is it? Perhaps we shall know his medical condition this week or in the next. If it is cancer I would like to believe he could still make it to the end of his term as president! Abangan!
