Remembering the Fatima apparitions 99 years ago

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Philippine Star

Today is the 99th anniversary of the final apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary before the three impoverished children, Jacinta Francisco Marto and Lucia at the Cova de Ira, Fatima, Portugal, with over 70,000 curious seekers witnessing one of the greatest miracles (it’s also called the Miracle of the Dancing Sun) of the 20th century, which was recorded in glorious black and white photos by all sorts of people, including the top newspapers of Portugal at that time.

Today is also the 43rd anniversary when the wooden statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary shed tears in Akita, Japan and visionary Sister Agnes Sasagawa heard through inner locution of the famous phrase… “The smoke of Satan has entered the Vatican.” If there is one truth that we ought to learn from the apparitions of Fatima… It is that Russia continues to “spread her errors” which today we have perceived to be communism.

While communism is no longer a threat in Mother Russia, we do face external threats from our communist neighbors, China and North Korea, which is still a reality today. Mind you, China’s belligerent attitude toward the Philippines was prophesied by the Our Lady of Nations in Lipa and this statement was confirmed to me by phone from Sister Teresing a few years ago. This is why we must heed the warnings of our Blessed Mother who has repeatedly appeared in various places to warn the human race of the impending chastisement unless we all repent from our sinful ways.

It is interesting to note that when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in Fatima on May 13 to Oct.13, 1917, her warnings came exactly a hundred years before the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Revolt in (1517-2017). Lest you have already forgotten, while the Protestant reformation was underway… three small wooden ships sailed into the harbor of Cebu City with Ferdinand Magellan, that Portuguese explorer in the employ of the Spanish Crown bringing the Holy Image of the Señor Sto. Niño to Cebu and this part of Asia. Perhaps this is the reason why Cebu is mentioned in the Blue Book of Fr. Stefano Gobbi as having a special role at the end of times.

I was writing this piece while my TV was tuned to ANC which had a special documentary entitled  “America by the Numbers: with Maria Hinojosa, which was about the drug problem of North Western Dakota where Native Americans living in and enjoying a new oil boom happening in the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, which is America’s latest boom town. But as the documentary showed… they already have 5,000 admitted drug addicts. Just imagine that this place was nothing until the recent oil boom. But with the booming economy… and so much disposable income… most of the Native Americans there have fallen prey to the drug menace.

This just gives you an idea of how the illegal drug trade is killing American families and there’s nothing that the US Government could do to stem the tide of this cancer of society. I suggest that you get hold of a copy of that special documentary and see for yourself how the evil of drugs is destroying that part of America that wasn’t even considered a part of America’s economic miracle just a few years ago.

Finally after a long agonizing wait where the Filipino people were given a three-week “Made-for-TV” ringside seat from the Senate justice committee hearings to the Congressional hearings… I would like to say that we’ve heard more than enough stuff of the nefarious activities happening inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP). All in all, you can sum up those hearings as a bunch of liars on one side and a lost soul on the other side. So are all those who showed up as witnesses against Sen. De Lima considered as liars or is it Sen. De Lima the biggest liar of all? There is only one way to find out… and that is to bring all these testimonies in a court of law.

This is why it is timely that the Anti-Crime Group dubbed “Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) led by its founding chairman and incumbent president Dante Jimenez together with lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, filed a complaint against Sen. De Lima for the violation of section 5 in relation to section 26 of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 including those names who were summoned during the House hearing on justice. The noose is finally tightening on Sen. De Lima’s neck. The VACC is a professional and apolitical group.

To add to Sen. De Lima’s woes, former Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino filed an election protest against Sen. De Lima before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) for poll fraud. With the alleged drug money used to fund her campaign… I think the SET has something up its sleeves. Abangan!
