Binay's confidence
He remains silent about the charges hurled against him and his family. Lately, however, he asked his lawyers to sue Ombudsman Morales and Senators Alan Cayetano and Caloocan City Erice and 9 more. All these charged are involved in investigating or exposing alleged anomalies connected to Binay and his family.
Is that a move to silence the charges and possible evidence against him and his family? Rather than be the one to bear the burden of clarifying the allegations against him, silence instead those who are making the allegations?
For as long as the charges and investigations move on, the more information about anomalies are publicly disseminated. The allegations, if proven with evidence, can be damaging for a man and his family who are very confident about victory, who are very determined to make Binay the next President of the Philippines.
Any legal impediment or any damaging public disclosure may seriously get in the way of that long-awaited Presidency. Hence, it is timely now to move to eliminate all possible barriers to their long-planned quest for the Presidency. That is one strategic move that has to be done now, immediately. And that seems to be their present move.
Where is the Binay confidence coming from?
You may already have read Binay's reply that he will win whether it is Poe or Roxas pitted against him. Have you checked out the website that reported the following: "Vice President Jejomar Binay's confidence remains sky-high despite his declining ratings and falling behind Senator Grace Poe as the preferred presidential bet in 2016? When asked to comment on reports that Poe was shaping up to his main rival for Malacañang, Binay said: "So what? I will win in 2016." ( http://politics.com.ph/binay-on-inevitable-face-off-with-poe-so-what-i-will-win-in-2016/).
Again, where is this confidence coming from?
You may wish to join us analyze why Binay and his camp are very confident about winning the presidency in 2016. Allow us to offer some views.
It is not clear when he decided to aim for the presidency. It was crystal clear, however, that his supporters were solidly behind him, especially in the last national elections. Despite the popularity of PNoy, Roxas was defeated by Binay.
Even if Poe will be his foe, Binay is confident his supporters are solid throughout the country. These are the LGU officials pampered through sisterhood schemes and VIP treatment during their visit to Makati. The LGU officials are close and familiar to the local voters and the election and canvassing areas and procedures. Their successful delivery of votes vs Roxas was very clear. They went all out for Binay, despite the popularity and possible victory of Noynoy. Can we expect then the same strong LGU machinery to campaign and support Binay for President?
Binay's campaign for Presidency started decades ago. Patronage politics and a deep reading of the psychology of Filipino voters and local officials were crucial features of this Binay for President movement which started early on.
Aside from solid LGU support, there are those who say factor in Binay's Alpha Phi Omega (APO) fraternity brods who are nationally organized and will continue to stand solid behind Binay.
There are also the masses themselves who are witnesses to gifts from this candidate. In good or bad times, during sunny weather or typhoons, whether here or abroad, the photo ops and gifts/donations clearly projected a sympathetic, supportive Binay. Again, this Binay brand of gift-giving started long before this present electoral campaign for pdresidency.
Their present power and wealth remain intact and although questioned and challenged, the Binay camp remain confident that all their assets and networks all throughout the country will make their candidate win! Their camp is confident that popularity per se will not keep their candidate from being the next president of this country.
The lack of unity among the other contending candidates and parties are certainly making the Binay camp more confident. The more delays in deciding who will finally run for President, the better for the more organized Binay camp. For them, the campaign has long started and their present moves have long been calculated to dispose of all possible impediments, legal, moral and more as the months move on closer to election day.
Then, is the present soft stance of Binay towards China an indication that he has the support and funding assurance from China and other Chinese-Filipino business and industry leaders?
What do you think? Can you accept Binay as your next president, as the leader of this country?
PNoy, Poe, and other presidential candidates cannot bank on popularity alone or on party machinery or resources. They are up against a very solid local and national (even international?) network of support planted and cultivated by the Binay camp for decades.
The votes have to be protected, the voters convinced beyond patronage politics, and of course, we need more prayers and vigilance to ensure that genuine, honest public servants be elected.
