Presidential appointees for Cebu in 1945
When Vice President Don Sergio Osmena Sr. was installed as President by General Douglas McArthur on the steps of the Provincial Capitol of Leyte on October 1944 in Tacloban City, he made appointments to ensure the return of normalcy of government services especially on the local government units.
Teodulo Mosqueda was appointed as acting mayor, and Alejandro de Sala, acting vice mayor of Alcoy, Cebu. The appointments were made on August 22, 1945.
Alcoy is formerly part of Dalaguete but was converted into a municipality in 1917. In 1964, the following were the town's officials:
Federico M. Ocampo, mayor, Catalino delos Santos, vice mayor, Sulpicio A. Anore, secretary, Sotero Carillo, judge, Manuel Pekitpekit, treasurer, Benjamin Anoba, chief of police, Dr. Felipe Estrada, health officer. Councilors: Nicanor Cartalla, Lorenzo delos Santos, Edilberto Roblon, Matilde Osorio, Alejandro Romanos, and Filomeno Amor.
Jose Lucero Kintanar was appointed acting mayor, and Jose Lucero, acting vice mayor of Argao, Cebu. The appointments were made on August 22, 1945.
It was when Jose L. Kintanar was mayor of Argao, Cebu that the three accused in the killing of Manuel Lanticse swore before the former of their participation in the commission of the crime. However during the trial of the case for robbery with homicide the three accused disowned their confessions. The chief of police, Mauricio dela Pena, the acting Justice of the Peace, Celedonio S. Salvador (the street in Banawa, Brgy. Guadalupe is named after him) and Mayor Jose L. Kintanar belied the allegations of the three accused that they were forced and intimidated in making the confessions.

Juan Rellon (there are members of the Rellon Clan who migrated to Davao during the time of Antonio Minoza, a former municipal president of Argao, Cebu, who was appointed as deputy governor of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu in 1916. The current Mayor of Tagum City is a Rellon (Alan Lopez Rellon). There is also Clarita L. Rellon who served as barangay councilor of Bug-ot, Argao, Cebu.
Maximo Carreon (the Carreon Clan is predominantly from the south, there are members of the clan who became lawyers: Ernesto F. Carreon of Barili, admitted to the Bar on March 14, 1969, Leonardo P. Carreon, admitted to the Bar on April 26, 1989, who was appointed as Assistant Public Prosecutor of Cebu City and later as municipal judge of Argao, Cebu and Numeriano F. Carreon was admitted to the Bar on January 25, 1952).
Pablo dela Cruz, Anastacio Padilla, Pio Mendez, Simeon Omboy, Bonifacio Minoza (was a publisher, he established the magazine "Ang Mag Magbabaol," he was also an advocate for women's suffrage years before it was recognized by law after the 1934 Constitution was ratified) and Filomeno K. Lucero (there are members of the Lucero Clan who became priests, while others became outstanding lawyers such as Jesus Lucero, admitted to the Bar on January 20, 1955, Godofredo S. Lucero of Ronda, Cebu admitted to the Bar on May 8, 1961), were appointed as acting councilors of Argao, Cebu.
The acting councilors of Argao, Cebu were appointed on August 22, 1945.
Mariano Dimataga was appointed as acting mayor of Opon (now Lapu-Lapu City), Cebu. The appointment was made on September 3, 1945.
Mariano served the longest as mayor of Opon until it was converted into a city on June 17, 1961 by virtue of Republic Act 3134. Mariano was the son of Bartolome Mangubat Dimataga. Bartolome (Mariano's father) was the 5th municipal president of Opon, now called Lapu-Lapu City.
