Christmas joy
A luxurious "home" inside the New Bilibid Prison has been discovered. Many could not believe it existed. Bilibid or not!

I heard someone say on tv: "Take it easy on the table when celebrating noche buena." Yes, indeed, don't let your eyes be bigger than your belly.

I don't know if it's true that people who don't take it easy on the bottle on New Year's Eve, usually lose the battle?

There is one religious sect that does not believe in Christmas. But its members believe in Christmas gifts. Not in the giving but in receiving.

It says here in the SWS survey that 7 out of 10 Pinoys believe they'll find Christmas joy this year. The 3 of the 10 will still find Christmas joy. No one can escape joy on Christmas -- even the homeless street children as homeless as Baby Jesus who had to be born in a manger.

The news says Chairman Francis Tolentino of the MMDA is a possible replacement for Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. who is retiring in February 2015. One thing I have observed in Sir Tolentino is his pleasing personality and his being soft-spoken. Despite the difficulties he encounters in putting Metro Manila's chaotic traffic in order, he still speaks softly. He never gets cranky, never cocky, never angry.

Chairman Tolentino's behavior proves at least one thing. That a government official can be effective in his job even if he speaks softly amid the heat boiling in some abusive drivers' head.

It says here that "heads start rolling in Bilibid." In connection with the investigation of the special privileges enjoyed by several NBP inmates. "I'm happy to read this news," said a priest I know. "But let this rolling be literal."

Weeks after Ruby struck, East Samar town of Dolores is still in misery, says the headline of a news report from TF correspondent Marlon Necito A. Taño. Not quite surprising, Marlon. One year after Yolanda, many towns in Samar are still in misery. Or so reports to me by a fellow newsman who's been there one year, not just weeks, after Yolanda.

OVERHEARD. Floyd Mayweather continues to verbally attack Manny Pacquiao. The way I see it Pacman has gotten tired listening to Floyd's mouthings. Said a Pacman fan: "Naklaro ba ni Bob Arum nga kini si Mayweather dili babaye?" Another Pacman fan: "Bitaw no? Duda ra ta'g di ba na babaye, o ba kaha babayeng nagpalaki-laki. Ganahan mogamit sa baba."
