Josefina “Josie” Tallado, the missing wife of Governor Edgardo Tallado of Camarines Norte, has surfaced in Manila after going into hiding from her husband. She told ABS-CBN that she ran away from her husband, who she feared might kill her.

The threats were because the governor had accused her of uploading a nude photo of his alleged mistress on Facebook, who he has allegedly been having an extra marital affair with for five years.

She said her husband had verbally threatened her because of the photo upload, and that she felt there have been unknown people trying to enter their home.

She admitted, however, knowing that his husband has a mistress, but she denied uploading the photo. She also disclosed to have seen the sex video of his mistress and his husband, stored in the latter’s mobile phone.

Suspicions arose when his husband was carrying a gun upon his return from a trip to Manila and cut all internet connections at their home. She decided to leave their home on the same day, accompanied by a close friend. They abandoned their get-away car upon reaching Lupi, Camarines Sur then bought a second hand car in Naga, which they used to go to Manila.

Upon reaching Manila, she met her former professor, who then helped her contact Lawyer Lorna Kapunan. 

Lawyer Kapunan said they will file a case against the governor for violation of Republic Act 9262, or the Domestic Violence Law.

Department of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas is trying to patch up the two spouses, but the governor’s wife said “it’s over.”

Trillanes out of line

Senator Antonio Trillanes went to Rosario, Batangas with 60 members of media to inspect the 145-hectare farm of Sunchamp owned by businessman Antonio Tiu.

Trillanes should have waited for Senator Koko Pimentel, the chairman of the Blue Ribbon Subcommittee to join him in the inspection.

Upon arrival at the gate of the farm, the guard did not allow them to enter because he did not receive any instructions from the owner. Whereupon, Trillanes threatened the guard if he did not allow him to enter within 5 minutes, he would make it hard for Tony Tiu.

It turned out that the inspection was set for 3 to 5 p.m. A lawyer of Tiu arrived before 3 p.m. Trillanes came back and was allowed in. After his inspection, he told media people it was a luxurious place and he is convinced it belongs to Vice-President Binay.

It is Senator Pimentel who should write the subcommittee report, not Trillanes.

Trillanes is acting like he is the chairman of the subcommittee. He is not acting like an honorable senator – statesman where in several interviews he keeps branding Vice-President Binay as a “magnanakaw.” Also, he has no business threatening a security guard who was just following instructions.

Welcome USS George Washington

The aircraft carrier USS George Washington arrived in Manila, for port call, last Thursday, following a two-day joint exercise with the Philippine Navy in the West Philippine Sea, the most appropriate venue for joint naval drill.

Along with the George Washington carrier strike group, USS Antietam (CG-54), a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, and JS Sazanami, embedded with the George Washington battle group, took part in naval maneuvers, including formation, gunnery and night classic publication exercises for training purposes.

It was one of the first United States (US) ships to arrive in the Leyte, Samar area after Typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines. Its helicopters helped deliver relief goods to remote towns and barangays.

The US Embassy said the naval drill further demonstrates closer relations between the Philippines and the US.

The office of the Ombudsman filed the graft and malversation complaints against six House representatives, in connection with Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
