President Aquino and the case of the 2 liars

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Philippine Star

Beleaguered Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Alan Purisima went on a media offensive to prove that his house in San Leonardo in Nueva Ecija isn’t a mansion that ABS-CBN’s Ted Failon tried to portray on TV. Of course I was curious and watched all the footages of his residence and if he says that it only cost P2.5 million, I dare him to sell it to me for P5 million so he can make a 100% profit on it. But he knows in his heart that that house or mansion cost much more than that!

The media circus notwithstanding doesn’t change the fact that this house doesn’t even exist in the Municipal Assessor’s Office. Then there’s the issue of the Toyota Land Cruiser that he owns… or borrowed. In short what we have established here is that the PNP Chief is a total liar and as such Pres. Benigno “P-Noy” Aquino III, should fire him. But then lying seems to be the order of the day when it comes to the friends of P-Noy.

So we warn you in the strongest terms that if you are caught lying and you are not an Aquino supporter or part of his Yellow brigade, then you’d be in deep trouble. This issue brings us back to the events that happened during the graduation rites for the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) only last March 2014 when PMA Cadet Jeff Aldrin Cudia of the “Siklab Diwa” Class was not allowed to graduate and dismissed for lying. He lied for being late for two minutes, which was a violation of the Cadet’s code of honor.

Contrary to what many of my friends say that we always criticize Pres. Aquino… on his issue, we supported the President because keeping the code of honor is important to the military. But I don’t know what has happened to Cadet Cudia since. The last thing we learned is that the PMA demanded from Cudia to return the money spent for his education. I am mentioning this issue because it is no different from the issue plaguing the PNP Chief who has also been caught lying in this issue of corruption, which is far more serious than lying for being late.

Come now, we’ve always known about the double standard in the application of justice under the Aquino regime. Now I heard that the President’s defense of the lying PNP Chief has now resulted in demoralizing the men in uniform. More so that Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas wants to throw a lifestyle check against all the PNP officers. Well that lifestyle check plan is pointless if the PNP Chief cannot even explain how he became so rich and relies only in the trust and confidence of P-Noy so he can keep his job.

I have no doubt that P-Noy’s blind defense of his lying PNP Chief has set the time bomb ticking against his regime. There are just so many PNP officers who are disgruntled by the Aquino regime for their double standard of protecting corrupt and lying officers and transferring PNP officers who are merely doing their duty. Allow me to give you very clear examples.

Take note what happened to Senior Police Officer Conrado Capa who headed the Delfin Lee Task Force and finally bagged the fugitive Delfin Lee. For that he was removed and transferred to Cebu. This fueled rumors that someone high up in the PNP ranks was protecting Delfin Lee. With the recent exposure by ABS-CBN’s Ted Failon targeting the PNP Chief for corruption… once more this got the tongues wagging with people asking whether Delfin Lee was one of the “donors” of PNP Chief Purisima? Let’s see if Ted Failon can get this link exposed to the public.

What about the sad case of Region 8 Police Director Elmer Soria who after the devastation of Tacloban City by Super Typhoon “Yolanda” when the media asked him for an estimate of the casualties. Soria told the reporters that he believed that more than 10,000 might have perished during the height of Super Typhoon “Yolanda.” He was immediately relieved of his command by P-Noy. This was the official thing that Pres. Aquino did in Tacloban City right after the typhoon devastated Tacloban.

This only proves that the plight of the survivors wasn’t important to P-Noy. He wanted and believed that the casualty rate wouldn’t be high, which is why the PNP Regional Director was booted out of his office. This is also the very reason why the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) was ordered to stop the casualty count. Open Wikipedia and you will see that only 6,000 plus perished in that typhoon.

When I wrote a column asking the President what was the real score…how many people perished because of Super Typhoon Yolanda? We got no answer from Malacañang. But I got an answer from a volunteer worker with an NGO in Tacloban City who told me that when they got into Tacloban, they brought alone 20,000 body bags. This man told me that they distributed all the body bags in their depot and people were still asking for more. If you ask me, there were more than 10,000 who died from Super Typhoon Yolanda and Pres. Aquino can’t explain why he stopped the count.
