We are still a nation of laws… aren't we?

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Freeman

Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay visited GenSan and met with Sarangani Rep. Manny "Pacman" Paquiao. This gives you an idea that the vice president is trying to prop up his sagging image because of charges of corruption slapped against him. As expected, Manny Pacquiao defended VP Binay against corruption charges. But then that's mere "idle Prattle." These people mistakenly believe that by going directly to the people, they would be able to cleanse themselves from the corruption charges that were filed vs VP Binay. They are very wrong! We are still a nation of laws and no one, including VP Binay, should be exempted from our laws! He must face the corruption charges filed against him.

Shame on Rep. Pacquiao for clearing VP Binay's name even without presenting a single shred of evidence to discredit the evidences that were already presented before the Senate Blue (or Yellow) Ribbon Committee. Sure they got cheers from the people that trooped to their rally…but in the end, it doesn't change things regardless how many places VP Binay goes to visit.

VP Binay still stands accused of plundering the money of the City of Makati through many overpriced projects like the Makati Office and Parking building, the multi-cabs that he says were "high end models," and now hospital beds that cost a thousand percent more than their true cost. This is why all the more that VP Binay should go to court to clear his name otherwise he will never be President of this country.

These ugly politicians are obviously focused on campaigning for the next presidential elections in the year 2016. But we've already written many times in this corner, that for as long as the Precinct Count Optical Scan  is being used in the polls, the next president, senators and congressmen in this country will not be chosen by the Filipino voter, but by the crooks behind the PCOS machines inside the Comelec.

These crooks in the Comelec are getting away with their crime because the Filipino people don't have any damn idea that the PCOS machines never counted their votes. If they only knew the truth about the PCOS, they'd be marching on the streets in protest. This is why the NTC wants to create a Truth Commission so Atty. Glenn Chiong or Rene Azurin and Prof. Alex Muga can show their evidences of the mass electronic Dag-dag Bawas that was poised upon the Filipino people in the last elections.

This is why a multi-sectoral group of concerned Filipinos formed the National Transformation Council  to expose all the shenanigans in the Aquino Regime, which has led to the failure of our democratic processes. I have no doubt that since the launching of the NTC exactly a week ago, the yellow propaganda machinery went overdrive to discredit his eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal portraying him as a wishy-washy leader.

They insist that the NTC is led by the Catholic Church, but the whole truth is, the Catholic Church is just one amongst the many Christian denominations and Muslim groups who openly joined the NTC because they too want a change in our system of governance. Our first order of the day is to dismantle the Comelec and break it apart to regional Comelecs under the control of the NTC. These are just one of the many reforms that the NTC has in store to bring back sanity in our country.

Meanwhile Karen Davila of ANC's Morning Start had Sen. Serge Osmeña as her guest yesterday where they showed the video footages of the media circus that Philippine National Police Chief Alan Purisima held in his San Leonardo Mansion. A cousin of the PNP chief was on hand to tour the media around his residence, but he refused to conduct a presscon saying that he was not involved in this issue. When asked about the P18,000 cost of his Gazebo, Sen. Serge Osmeña laughed, saying "That's the price of one post!"

What the video revealed was a resort-like atmosphere in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. But despite that media circus, it doesn't change the facts that ABS-CBN's Ted Failon struck a raw nerve when he went to San Leonardo's municipal assessor's office and found out that there was no property under Purisima's name.

Incidentally, the media circus did not include footages that would show the PNP chief's bulletproof Toyota Land Cruiser, which he initially said that he bought for P1.5 million. I too would like to buy a Land Cruiser for that price if only the PNP chief gave us the names of the generous car dealers.

In my book, the PNP chief has failed miserably the lifestyle check that's poised on him. Now if Pres. PNoy Aquino still backs him up and if the Office of the Ombudsman does suspend the PNP Chief, then what else can we do? I leave this to the hands of our readers.
