Police clearance

POLICE CLEARANCE. About two years ago, The Ear carried an item about a father who asked for police or NBI clearance from the suitor of his daughter. Last week The Ear received an information, through an informer, that there was another father who asked for a health certificate from the suitor of his daughter.

NOT UNCOMMON. The Ear has just learned that this is not an uncommon practice by some parents, the fathers especially. Requiring suitors to present police/NBI clearance and/or health certificate has long been in practice adopted by some parents "to make sure their daughters will not fall into wrong hands," The Ear learned.
