A politically motivated demolition job

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Freeman

Unlike former Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Pres. Benigno Aquino III who was supposed to have a very high popularity rating is now in his all-time low (I believe this figure should be lower) facing his 4th impeachment complaint, still by his own Leftist friends, the Association of Concerned Teachers. The first impeachment complaint was filed by Rep. Neri Colmenares of  Bayan Muna; the second was filed by the youth group Act Now about the Disbursement Acceleration Program and the 3rd complaint was filed by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan of Rep. Teddy Casino.

Of course, Malacañang spokesmen insist that PNoy was "unfazed by these impeachment raps, so that he wouldn't be seen as one who is running scared. I can only say that the Zarzuela has begun. Those Leftist groups know too well that the allies of PNoy in Congress would throw away those impeachment raps, then what will happen? Chaos will ensue and there will be trouble and violence in Metro Manila. I certainly hope not.

Yesterday's reply from Mr. Joey Salgado, Media Affairs Head of the Office of the Vice President was truly a mouthful. We wrote his reply in our column yesterday, but we couldn't print all of it due to the length of his article. But of course he delivered the message of Vice Pres. Binay  saying that the Commission on Audit had cleared his name in the plunder case that Atty. Rene Bondal filed against the vice president. But is COA clean?

Of course, Mr. Salgado did his best to belittle Atty. Bondal and indeed, I got a call from close friends in Manila (I also wrote this same issue in the Philippine Star) telling me that this case is politically-motivated. But this is the problem we have when the shenanigans of our political leaders are exposed to the public… they simply dismiss it as politically-motivated or someone's doing a demolition job against the vice president. But what if those allegations by Atty. Bondal are true?

Well, obviously someone was reading our columns in The Freeman and The Philippine Star because a staffer from the Office of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV sent me this official notice from the Senate. It's Resolution No. 826 sponsored by Sen. Trillanes "Directing the Committee on Accountability of Public Officials and Investigations of the Senate of the Philippines to investigate, in aid of legislation, the alleged P1.501 billion overpricing of the 11 story New Makati City Hall II parking building. The reported overpricing of the 22 story Makati City Hall building at the average cost of P240,000 per square meter and related anomalies purportedly committed by former and current local officials and for other related purposes."

Now you folks know too well that Sen. Trillanes owes a huge debt of gratitude to Pres. Benigno Aquino III. So forgive me for being curious… could Atty. Rene Bondal and Sen. Trillanes have something in common? First Atty. Bondal appears out of nowhere and gets himself invited into the 888 Weekly News Forum at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel a week ago to spill the beans on Vice Pres. Binay. Now his expose' has resulted in a proposed Senate Investigation on Binay's corruption.

Call it a coincidence that I heard from the grapevine that when Department of Interior & Local Government Sec. Mar Roxas was in Cebu recently, he confided to his friends here that by December, all the opposition stalwarts would be in jail. Hmmm, sounds like a plan!

If all the opposition are in jail and can't campaign, you can second guess that Mar Roxas gets a shot at the presidency despite all his negatives. Remember in the land of the blind, the one-eyed Jack is king! Plus… there is still no investigation on the grave misuse of the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) that gave the nation the greatest electronic Dagdag Bawas in the 2010 and 2013 elections.

This is why, despite the reality that a great majority of the Filipino people no longer likes or trusts Mar Roxas, he still refuses to have that alliance with Vice Pres. Binay. He still wants so badly to be the next president of the Philippines… and he is the only person aside from Binay who could assure Pres. PNoy that no one would file any graft or plunder cases when he steps down from Malacañang in 2016. If any other candidate wins the 2016 elections, it would doom Pres. PNoy to follow his predecessor to a life in jail.

So if he truly is innocent of those charges, it behooves for Vice-Pres. Binay to have his name cleared of those charges filed against him so nothing can stop him from his plan to become the next President of the Philippines by hook or by crook or by PCOS machine! The same goes for Mar Roxas who can still use the SOS and Pulse Asia Surveys and the PCOS machines.
