Pedophiles

Let me start by making an explanation. The blurb in this column last July 16/14 was not mine. How it strayed into this column is beyond me.

Sir Nick Colayco, a TF reader since way back, rang me up last June 24. "You're not punning much lately," he said. And I said: "Some people might find my punning a pun in the neck."

In a recent column, I said: "The hospitality girls are making 'he' while the sun shines." I punned "hay" but it was un-punned.

It says here that garlic prices have started dropping. But the housewives in my neighborhood say it's the prices of rice they're more interested in. One of them said: "malung-ag bay ahos?"

Germany and Russia are going back to the old manual typewriter after finding out that computers and the Internet can't keep secrets. Much of the secrets they kept in their computers have been exposed or leaked.

See? It's not only me who's sticking to the good old manual typewriter even in this era of modern information technology. I'm writing this column on an old but trusty Underwood 310.

PNoy said he retained Butch Abad because to him it's wrong to remove a man who's doing right. He got a KO blow from the public for that.

Everytime there's a strong typhoon there are always old trees that are uprooted and felled. What the DENR protects from unscrupulous tree cutters, the DENR can only watch helplessly as angry Nature does the damage.

It says here that the BIR is back to shaming professionals who do not pay correct taxes. I wonder if this includes the "oldest professionals."

The BIR has the records of all taxpayers. And the taxes they pay. So they can evade but they can't hide. To repeat what I have said: The BIR knows Hudas not pay.

OVERHEARD. Pope Francis has been quoted as saying that two percent of his priests are pedophiles. He calls pedophilia a leprosy. Commented a Catholic women's club member: "Susmaria." Sangla-on? Adto na sila i-assign sa leprosarium oi aron di matakdan ubang pari."
