Fabian Aguanta St., Asturias, Cebu

It is the street from the town's parish church to the Asturias Catholic Youth. It is named after a person who never held any government position but was well respected and loved by the town people.

Called the town's philanthropist, he is the donor of the school site formerly called the Asturias Central School, now named after him. Aside from the school site, he donated the lot of the town's cemetery and a bell now used in the municipal hall.

Fabian Aguanta was the son of Eulogio Aguanta, one of the Founders of Asturias. It was Fabian's father, Eulogio that donated the second largest bell of the church. He did this by selling part of his lands in order to purchase the bell. Eulogio also donated images of Senior San Roque and the "Santo Entierro."

The town's center (Poblacion) has seven (7) major streets named after its residents. Fabian Aguanta married Marta Manuel daughter of Pedro Manuel and Catalina Alonso. Catalina was one of the sisters of Eugenio Alonso the Father of Asturias. Eugenio and Catalina were the children of Antonio Alonso and Juana Arambulo.

Eugenio Alonso was the father of lawyers and congressmen Jose (married Crispiniana Reyes), Tomas (married Asuncion Medalle) and Antonio (married Carmen Corrales).

Spouses Fabian Aguanta and Marta Manuel had the following children: Buenaventura Aguanta (married Nieves Macatang), Luisa Aguanta (Wenceslao Bardenas), Isidro Aguanta (married Josefina Rodriguez), Juana Aguanta (married Ranulfo To-ong), Eulogio Aguanta (married Dolores To-ong), Alejandro, Anecito Aguanta (married Flora Elarcosa) and Mariano Aguanta (married Espirideona Redula.

One of the children of Fabian, Luisa who married a Bardenas had a daughter named Fermina who married Rex Daclan Dela Victoria, became the caretaker Mayor of Asturias during the first election after the 1986 EDSA Revolution. Before Fermina Bardenas dela Victoria, the Mayor was Manuel T. Manuel. Then Welito Toong won the first election after the 1986 Revolution who was succeeded by Yolanda Toong.

The following became the Gobernadorcillos of Asturias: Euginio Alonso, Prospero Awit, Francisco Aliviado, Gregorio Delfin, Roman Rosales, Pantaleon Trazo, and Jacinto Palicte.

Then as Presidente Municipal during the American Occupation: Jose Alonso (son of Don Eugenio Alonso), Sabas Estrella, Celestino Estrella, Primo Trazo and Priscilo Trazo.
