The following is the second list of congressmen in the Napoles/Benhur files that have allegedly been involved in the P10-billion Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.

P-Noy rejects immunity for Napoles

In a surprise statement, President Aquino has rejected making Napoles a state witness. This puts a stop to all efforts by Department of Juctice (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima to use Napoles as a state witness.

P-Noy is now saying that the Napoles affidavit contains lies, but earlier that affidavit was accepted to pin down Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, and Bong Revilla.

Bruce Rivera, lawyer of Janet Napoles, said 3 more senators will be added to the Napoles list or to the list of 11 senators earlier submitted to De Lima. Rivera also cleared Senator J.V. Ejercito as having been erroneously included in the Napoles list by an encoder.

WEF 2014 hosted by Phl

The World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia opened yesterday at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel, with President Aquino as the keynote speaker and hosted by WEF founder Klaus Schwab.

Also in attendance were Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Burmese Vice President U Nyan Tun, Myanmar Vice President Sai Mauk Kham,  along with nine government ministers, and more than 100 business executives.

NPAs attack Cotabato town

One hundred New People’s Army (NPA) rebels attacked the police station of President Roxas in North Cotabato.

The police traded shots with the three killed NPA rebels identified as Commander Ronald Arnado of Barangay Sto. Nino, Arakan, North Cotabato; a certain “Totoy Gamay” and “Dodoy” of Barangay Datu Manangkil, also of Arakan town.  The chief of police, Senior Inspector Bernabe Rubio, suffered injuries but is in safe condition.

Two soldiers helping in the Brigada Eskwela program in Compostela Valley were kidnapped by the rebels. 

Gina de Venecia in China

Rep. Gina de Venecia (Pangasinan, 4th Dist.) led a  12-member Philippine congressional delegation of women legislators to China.

Rep. de Venecia appealed to China and the Philippines to restore the “good neighbor policy” that has prevailed and ensured for our two peoples for the last one thousand years.

The Filipino delegation, which visited Beijing for talks with the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) was composed of Reps Maria Lourdes Acosta (Bukidnon), Belma Cabilao (Zamboanga Sibugay), Mercedes Cagas (Davao del Sur), Julieta Coruna (A-Teacher), Gwen Garcia (Cebu), Olga Kho (Masbate), Sandy Ocampo (Manila), Leah Paquiz (Ang NARS party list), Marie Ann Pernas (Siquijor), Josephine Sato (Occidental Mindoro), and Juliette Uy of Misamis Oriental.

Tidbits: Joseph Teodones and Perla Due were the two victims on the Makati grenade explosion, which the police officials clarified that the blast was due to a grudge held by the attacker against one victim. The two wounded people were identified only as Butchoy and Helen de Ocampo. 

171 private colleges and universities have been approved of their tuition increase by Commission on Higher Education (CHed).

Ambassador Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia reported that no Filipino was killed or injured as a result of protests.

Zaipal Alawi Sr., 64, assistant city prosecutor of Marawi City was shot dead in an ambush.

Manny Villar announced that Vista Land & Landscapes Inc. is building 18 hotels over the next 4 years.

Three more PAGASA employees, namely Ramon Agustin, weather forecaster Bernie De Leon, and Ralph Ricahuerta, have resigned to accept jobs abroad.
