How Pres. Obama made the US weak!

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Freeman

For our special presentation on our talk show Straight from the Sky, we bring another discussion with MEGA CEBU, which is represented by the Metro Cebu Development & Coordinating Board. Last week, we featured a talk about the future of Cebu’s mass transportation system with Japanese International Cooperation Agency consultant Engr. Rene Santiago. That topic is in a way connected to our discussion tonight, which is about the challenges facing MEGA CEBU and the future of Metro Cebu.

One of the biggest challenges facing MEGA CEBU is that Cebu lacks a master plan. Actually we did have a master plan years ago, which the Central Visayas Regional Projects originally initiated. After the EDSA revolt, the Metro Cebu Development Program 1 & ll replaced the CVRP. These were the glory days for Metro Cebu when it widened many major thoroughfares such as V. Rama Ave., B. Rodriquez St., sections of the Banilad Road, notably from M.L. Quezon Ave. to Talamban and A.S. Fortuna Ave. in Mandaue City. I don’t know why we stopped moving.

Unfortunately JICA stopped funding our road widening projects because the Japanese government decided that it didn’t want to spend the Japanese people’s tax money to pay private land owners to give up the frontage of their properties to widen our roads because JICA believes that the road widening would benefit land owners living along the roadside. After the Japanese funding dried up, the powers-that-be in Cebu shut down the MCDP office and it was the end of the master plan for Metro Cebu.

Tonight we have with us Prof. Perry, executive director of the Cebu Business Club and Economics professor at the University of San Carlos and Engr. Fortunato Sanchez, Jr., subcommittee chairman for infrastructure for MCDCB, who will give us a “no-holds barred” discussion on what the problems and challenges that MEGA CEBU is facing these days as well as solutions, if there are any.

One question in particular was posed by JICA to the MCDCB during their conferences where JICA was asked to do a master plan for Metro Cebu. We once had a master plan, but it was literally thrown away. So what are the guarantees that the new one would finally be implemented? So watch this very interesting show about the Future of Cebu on SkyCable’s Channel 61 at 8:00PM with replays on Wednesday and Saturday and replays over MyTV Channel 30 at 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

US President Barrack Obama is expected to be here today for an overnight visit to his friend, Pres. Benigno “PNoy” Aquino, III. This is part of the “Pivot to Asia” plan of Pres. Obama to focus his attention on the Asia-Pacific region. The Philippines and Japan are facing a belligerent China, whose vicious dog on a leash is North Korea. But then, the popularity ratings of Pres. Obama is at an all-time low, especially when the United States has been seen as a “weakling” in the eyes of the world.

That incident in Benghazi on 11th anniversary of 9-11 on Sept.11, 2012 that resulted in the death of US Ambassador Chris Stevens has been seen as one of the lowest moments in US history. Check out the movie “Capt. Philips” and you’ll see how far the US military would go to save one American life. But alas, the US military wasn’t sent to Libya to save its own ambassador from terrorists. Worse, since it was an election year, the Obama regime made sure that Americans would not know the truth about Benghazi, until he got himself re-elected into the White House.

America’s non-interference in Syria despite the Assad regime’s gassing its own people is another sign of Obama’s weakness and finally, the trouble happening right now in Crimea and the Ukraine has also been seen as Pres. Obama’s weakness. So Pres. Obama comes to the Philippines to what…sign a new treaty to bring US troops on a rotational basis? Come now, can the Philippine President allow this to happen without the concurrence of the Philippine Senate?

But with nearly a majority of the Philippine Senate now entangled in the pork scam mess of Janet Lim Napoles, even if they ratify this US-RP military agreement, it is meaningless because the Filipino people have lost all trust and confidence in the House of Representatives. Senators and congressmen are damaged goods! I don’t know why Department of Justice Sec. Leila De Lima hasn’t publicized that list from Napoles and we can only conclude that it is so explosive, she is scared that the Filipino people would march into Malacañang and boot out Pres. Aquino, just like what would have happened to then Pres. Joseph “Erap” Estrada. Abangan!
