Did P-Noy bribe Sen. Bong Revilla?

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Philippine Star

Last Tuesday, the pro-life groups held a prayer rally right at the doorstep of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) to pray to God that the international conference dubbed the 7th Asia Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights would not be successful. While that prayer rally wasn’t a big one, thanks to cellphone technology, we did our own prayers with all the pro-lifers all over the Philippines.

I have no doubt that the objective of this conference is to push for divorce, same sex marriages and their ultimate goal…abortion! These delegates feel that Filipinos welcome this anti-life conference because no less than Pres. Aquino lobbied and pushed for the passage of the Reproductive Health (RH) Law, which is our local version of “Obamacare.” But if you didn’t know, Obamacare has now resulted in the steep decline in the ratings of US Pres. Barack Obama. If these people held this conference anywhere in the US, I’m sure they would also be greeted with a huge pro-life rally.

Unfortunately, the Catholic Church has not said anything about this three-day international convention of pro-abortionists, which in my book is an insult to all Filipinos. They even had the gall to have P-Noy as their guest speaker. But as I pointed out, I have my doubts if the President is still a practicing Catholic. This is why I found it odd that last Monday P-Noy was supposed to lead that National Day of Prayer…but as it turned out, those church leaders with him literally prayed over him…perhaps to exorcise the demons that urge him to be the principal sponsor of those so-called “death bills” which is what the pro-life groups tag the RH law. But my faith tells me that God is listening to our prayers and will act on this very soon.

Remember Janet Lim Napoles (JLN)? Surely you people out there must be wondering whatever happened to her? She was headline/front page cover in our national dailies for more than a month until Super Typhoon Yolanda removed her face out of the front pages. So now may we ask Justice Secretary Leila de Lima what has happened to her case? At what stage is her legal predicament?

Meanwhile, there is an interesting sideshow that happened in the Philippine Senate when Sen. Bong Revilla made his privilege speech, naturally to defend himself against the accusations by whistleblower Ben-Hur Luy. As we already pointed out, for much of the Year 2014, we shall be seeing this media circus splashed on the front pages of our national and local dailies and our nationwide TV networks. Call it reality TV Philippine style.

I’m sure that this issue is now the “pick-of-the-month” by all pundits writing in our national and local dailies. So let’s go straight for the jugular; after all, you must have watched Sen. Revilla’s “made-for-TV” powerpoint presentation in trying to defend his family name and honor. Now whether he is telling the truth or not, it is not for us the public to decide.

This is exactly what Ben-Hur Luy is trying to do… get Sen. Revilla to hitch a ride on that Senate media circus so that the public would know who among the two, Sen. Revilla or Mr. Luy is telling the truth? But in my book, this is a case of corruption and therefore it should be conducted inside a court of law and not in the court of public opinion or a Senate hearing where no one goes to jail.

In trying to defend himself, Sen. Revilla has trained his sights to no other than P-Noy in that infamous Bahay Pangarap meeting. This is the first time that anyone linked the President to the Senate Impeachment trial for CJ Corona. So the question begging for an answer is, “Is it wrong for the President to meet with Senators and Congressmen?” The answer is “No” because that is what politicians normally should be doing.

But this was no ordinary meeting… it was in fact a very secret meeting, which tells me that there was a “secret” agenda. That DILG Sec. Mar Roxas dumped his driver and bodyguard to drive Sen. Revilla speaks volumes that he didn’t want anyone to hear their conversation. So why try to hide this skullduggery? Somehow, despite what Sen. Revilla said that he voted to convict CJ Corona “because he deserved it,” the rumors are so strong it could be measured through the Richter Scale because at the end of this secret meeting, it ended in Sen. Revilla’s voting to convict CJ Corona.

If you recall, there were a list of names who were identified with the President whom we believe would vote to convict CJ Corona. Sen. Revilla’s name was in the “not to convict” list; but why the change of heart? This can only logically be traced to that fateful meeting in Bahay Pangarap. In my book, the President had no business in talking to Senator/Judges, because it would have been easy for him to use the pork barrel to “entice” those Senators who do not belong to his political camp. So was Sen. Revilla bribed?
