No need to explain DAP to the people
I was having dinner with Msgr. Fernando Capalla of Davao and friends at the Verandah of the Cebu Country Club when Ty-phoon Wilma unleashed its fury and we were forced to move our table inside because of the strong winds and rain. Little did we know that those strong winds were part and parcel of the tornado that struck the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, which measured 52 knots according to PAGASA. We learned from Facebook accounts that four people were injured in Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue because of this freak tornado. But as The Freeman headline blared, some ten people were hurt by that tornado.
Now why PAGASA couldn't predict this tornado beats me. Of course everyone was expecting the typhoon to hit Southern Cebu, but no one could have ever thought that a tornado would hit us, more so that this happened during nighttime when we can no longer see the twister strike us.
This natural disaster has brought people to ask…"First we got that 7.2 magnitude earthquake, now we're getting a freak tornado and if Typhoon Wilma wasn't strong enough, by tomorrow, we could expect a stronger typhoon dubbed Super Typhoon "Yolanda" to hit Central Visayas. At this point, we can only ask our readers to pray harder in the hope that God would spare us this super typhoon. Our people have suffered enough already…but we must never stop praying.

While the nation is experiencing various natural disasters that have certainly cost us in lives and material damage, we're saddened by the fact that instead of addressing the problems happening around the country, Pres. Benigno "PNoy" Aquino, III is spending most of his time trying to explain the unexplainable called the Disbursement Acceleration Program that the Aquino Regime secretly hatched to the dismay of his critics and the Filipino people.
Since his public address exactly a week ago, where PNoy was supposed to explain the DAP, but failed to convince the people… now PNoy plans to explain the DAP directly to the Filipino people when he goes around in sorties. This only shows that PNoy has lost his touch with the masa. The majority of the Filipino people are in dire poverty and couldn't care any less if the DAP was legal or not. So even if he explained it to the uneducated masses, we'd never know if they would understand him or not. I just hope that he doesn't make those sorties in typhoon- or earthquake-ravaged areas where their priorities are different. They need tents and food and I don't think they'd like to hear the president speak about DAP.
If there is anything that these people want to know it is whether or not there is still money for calamity funds. The last we heard from Malacañang was that, these funds were already depleted. So if these funds are already depleted what else can the people in the typhoon or earthquake ravage areas expect from the Aquino Regime? DAP is useless to these poor folks.

There is a strange report in the masthead of The Philippine Star yesterday…that the Philippines was used by the United States of America as a "Spying Hub" in Asia. Beleaguered Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, whom we thought was already on his way out for giving the nation that misinformation about Chinese structures in Scarborough shoal, is said to be checking out this information that came from Australia's ABC News that reported that the Philippines was used as a "listening post" by the US to spy on our neighboring countries.
I would like to believe that this news report is not far-fetched…after all Cubi Point has always been one of the US military's top communications facilities. With the Obama administration being accused by Germany of spying even on the cellphone of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, methinks that the new American Ambassador to the Philippines ought to explain this to the Filipino people.
Whether the US likes it or not, the Wikileaks case of Julian Assange truly compromised America when he caused the publication of classified documents. I was on the Emirates plane flying back to Manila when I saw the video documentary of Julian Assange and I would like to believe that Mr. Assange exposed America's secrets, which otherwise the world would never have known. Then there's the case of Edward Snowden, that American computer specialist and National Security Agency contractor who also disclosed classified details of top secret surveillance by the US. So now, is the Philippines involved in spying for the US? It's bad enough that PNoy is considered an "Amboy", but we should never be spying for America. Never!
