Teach Bahasa

THE EAR - The Freeman

BAHASA. A Filipino language professor in a Malaysian university (or is it college) said in a language symposium that along with English, Philippine universities and/or colleges should teach Bahasa, the language of Southeast Asia.

COMMON TONGUE. The professor said Bahasa is the common tongue among Indonesians, Malaysians and Bruneians. "Now more and more people in Singapore are learning to speak Bahasa," he said. He shared that the Philippines is the only "ethnic Malay country" whose people cannot converse in Bahasa.
