Rumble in a songfest

THE EAR - The Freeman

SONGFEST. A group of gays competing in a singing contest during a barangay fiesta rumbled after the contest. The rumble, according to an Ear informer, arose from the songs the two groups separately sang. "Alegre ang rumble. Dunay kinawrasay, pamalikasay, sininggitay," the informer said.

THE SONGS. What ignited the fight were the wordings (lyrics) of the songs sung by the two groups (it was a choral contest with four singers to each group). One group sang "Pusong Bato" while the other rendered "Pusong Mamon." There were words in each song that members of each group felt "insulting," according to The Ear informer who was a judge in the contest.
