2016
LP's dominant showing in the elections cannot be credited to the electorate but through the efforts made by Mar Roxas.
As I had been suspecting all along, the reason why Roxas was appointed head of DILG was to consolidate control over the LGUs.
Whether or not such effort was done morally or ethically or lawfully, the right thing to do is not really a cause for concern here, for in politics the only thing one should concern himself with is not the righteousness nor the morality of the means he employs but the utilitarian aspect of said means in relation with the end one seeks to actualize - 2016.
Now, why do I state the obvious? Because this will serve as a premise to a possible twist in our political telenovela, which may come as a surprise as we near 2016 (though in politics nothing usually comes as a surprise and everything is presumed a regularity, but this is for the benefit of those, when the time comes, presumably will be clueless).
Still don't get it? Ok, think only of yourself and your ambition.
See, Roxas has been very patient. He has been patiently postponing his illusion of being president for quite some time now. The DILG post is that footstool.
Here comes the twist.
Roxas, basing on the election turnout, has been religiously doing his part, his end of the deal. LP has displayed a strong showing, further cementing, in his mind, his claim as heir apparent to the throne. But, as it is with monarchy, you can't really ignore the presence of an aristocratic oligarchy.
As of late, several of his party mates (their number has been steadily increasing, thanks to the conventional Filipino virtue of turncoatism) have been openly endorsing Jojo Binay for 2016.
Now, imagine you have been priming yourself for 2016. You have been very patient. You have been a loyal party member. In return you have been assured full support for your ambition. Then suddenly you hear people from your own circle saying they already have a standard-bearer in mind and it isn't you. How will this affect you?
We all know how close the Aquinos are to Jojo Binay. What will Mar Roxas do, should the inevitable come? Your guess is as good as mine.
Though, in the eyes of those who can only count one up to a hundred, 2016 is still very far, and that there is a big chance that this trifling nonsense of mine is just a trifling nonsense. But, still....
