It says here that Pinoy maids in Hong Kong lost their court bid to be granted the right to become permanent residents in the territory.  Among Pinoy basketball fans the lose was due to home court advantage of the home team.

It's better to end a message with “God bless” than by saying “Good luck.” This according to my friend and fellow columnist Bobit Avila, who explains: “We are not lucky but blessed.”

A story is told, says Fulton Sheen in his book “The Seven Last Words” that the Blessed Lord appeared to Saint Jerome and said, “Jerome, what will you give me?” Jerome answered, “I will give you my writings,” to which Our Lord replied that it was not enough.”

“Then,” said Jerome, “what shall I give you? My life of penance and mortification?” But the Lord's answer was, “Even that is not enough.” Jerome asked, “What have I left to give you?” Jerome cried. Our Blessed Lord answered, “Jerome, you can give me your sins.”

Lucy Torres-Gomez has been unseated by the Supreme Court as congresswoman of Leyte's 4th district. The High Court's decision comes as Lucy is almost through with her three-year term. Her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) was cancelled.

The honorable associate justice who penned the decision said Lucy is “deemed not to have been a candidate in the election where she had won.” Which means she could run again in this coming congressional election? No wonder her fans do not seem perturbed. There's nary a cry of foul from the sidelines.

OVERHEARD. Two mothers were heard talking about the sad fate of that young college student who committed suicide because of a tuition problem with a State university in Manila. Said one mother: “Sa Cebu pa lang siya ni-enroll buhi pa siya ron.” Mother No. 2 replied: “Bitaw. Tulo ko ka anak gradwit sa Cebu buhi pa ron, maayo'g trabaho sa abroad.”
