Garcia-Davide debate

The Philippine Star

It is sad to know that after so much preparations by the Association of Law Students of the Philippines Cebu chapter, led by Camille Therese Ubod, Liberal Party gubernatorial bet Junjun Davide - for the third time! - declined to face his One Cebu rival Pablo John Garcia in what could have been an exciting open debate. Twice, Davide accepted the debate proposal but at the last minute gave several alibis, rejecting it.

When the third debate proposal came, he countered that the questions be put in writing so that his answers will have to be written down, not given orally. If you don’t call it weird, I don’t know what is.

An open debate would have given the general public the opportunity to know more about Garcia and Davide as candidates as well as their plans for Cebu after the May polls. But obviously, one of them is so afraid to face the other. Ngano kaha?
