Horse meat has been found in foods served in hospitals and schools in Ireland. The Irish are indignant. They have lost their sense of humor and are now kicking.

But some Irish still manage to joke about the horse meat. When they enter a kitchen they look for the cook and ask him: “What’s kicking?”

New York City last week celebrated the fifth anniversary of its Free Condom Program. In five years, NY has distributed tens of millions of condoms for free. With our RH law now in operation, we in Phl will be following suit in the not so distant future.

I saw and heard on TV Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle talk about the coming conclave in Rome to elect a new pope. I was amused at his candidness in answering the questions about the conclave.

The good archbishop, who is bruited about as a papabili, had no pretensions to cover up his ignorance about the conclave. “I have just been named cardinal and I know practically nothing about the conclave and how it works,” Cardinal Tagle said, adding: “I am reading books concerning the event.”

Mayor Mike Rama has vetoed the ordinance against the demolition of the CitiCenter. “Right move,” said Dr. Remberto Ysalina, a strong backer (he calls himself that) of the Beautiful Cebu Movement. “That building housing the CitiCenter has been an eyesore for a long time and the time is now for it to go.” Dr. Ysalina made some effort to reach me by phone to issue his statement.

OVERHEARD. A taxi driver having pungko-pungko lunch with a PUJ driver said: “Siete milyones pesos ang nakolekta rong tuiga sa Citom. Mas dako kay sa miaging tuig.” Replied the PUJ driver: “Daghan pa gyud diay natong mga badlongon sa no?” The taxi driver said: “Kun magtinarong ang mga kauban tang drayber mogamay ang multa nga matigum ang Citom.” PUJ driver: Kita ray gabuhi anang mga traffic enforcer no?”
