A monument for Lolong suggested

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   - Pang-masa

The Gallup Poll says the Philippines has been voted as the “world's leader in love.” Gallup says that 93 percent of Filipinos “admitted feeling (not falling?)in love” besting 136 other countries.

I don't know that this is all about but I do know that this thing called love has been a problem to many Pinoys including some politicians.

A charitable organization (not identified in the news story) has launched a livelihood program for the so-called commercial sex workers who have intimated their interest and desire to shift to a decent means of earning a living.

***

“One that is accepted by all,” said an initiator of the program. “We are happy that they have shown willingness to support this program that is intended exclusively for them.”

It's time for them -- these misguided sisters of ours -- to realize and sincerely accept this realization that they don't have to have to live by bed alone.

Lolong, the world's largest crocodile, is dead but let's let his memory stick, why? Because Lolong brought honor to the Filipino nation unlike the other crocodiles we know and dislike.

I agree with Jim Hagerty Jr., an American freelance journalist, who suggested that a decent life-size monument be erected in honor of Lolong in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur, with the Guinness plaque screwed at the foot of the statue. The monument can bring travelers from around the world to sleepy Bunawan, according to Jim.

My friend Teddy H. says Lolong may be considered as “redeemer of lesser known crocodiles” who have become symbols of corruption in our country, particularly in the government.

It says here that one in every 10 Pinoy families has given money or gift to a government official in order to secure permits or licenses without getting wrapped in red tape. If you happen to be a businessman -- especially a small-time businessman -- reading this, you'll doubtless tip your hat and say: Correct!

TF writer Eleanor Valeros' article about Pete and Josie Pereyra on the eve of Valentine's Day, was the kind of love story fit to print on that day. Pete, my good friend, has been bedridden for some years now, and Josie, also my good friend, never showed any hint of tiredness being true to him. I have known Pete since his active days in media (radio/TV) and have been missing him since he fell ill. Josie is right. Pete is a good man.

OVERHEARD. Two women, both friends of Gwen and Agnes were heard talking about their “warring” friends. Pun-an man nimo oi.”
