Our losing streak in beauty tilts broken

Juanito V. Jabat   - The Philippine Star

A Pinoy transgender won in an international beauty contest. Someone asked me if a transgender is a she. I said he-he!

So our losing streak in the world beauty contests has been broken. Thanks to this transgender. No, I’m not saying our transgenders are prettier than our Bb. Pilipinas bets.

I remember a fellow newsman who said he once slept with a transvestite (not a transgender). “What happened?” I asked. “Nothing,” he said. “I slept all night.”

The place where the “Miss International Queen 2012” pageant was held was Pattaya, Thailand. I had been there once. I discovered that 50 percent of the girls there were boys.

Pattaya then as now is a place swarming with transvestites, many of them earn some bahts and dollars by posing for photos (for a fee) with foreigners, tourists and plain visitors, who are not aware of their true gender. The newsmen (from Asean countries outside of Thailand) arriving in Pattaya for the first time scrambled to have photos with the transvestites not knowing they were “he” not “she” and not knowing too that it was for a fee to pose with them.

One congressman was heard saying: “I wonder why my beard near my mouth is growing white faster than the hair on my head.” Someone was heard telling him: “You’re using your mouth more than your head.” Not getting the joke, the lawmaker said: “Mao ba? Is that so?

Gubernatorial bet Rep. PJ Garcia’s opposition to some sectors’ clamor to extend the registration of first-time voters is wise. The Comelec has given them two years within which to register but they waited for the 11th hour. And then they blamed the Comelec for the tiredness they suffered in the long queue while waiting to be served.

My friend Teddy H. said he had a compadre who failed to register. “Salig siya kay duna pay duha ka tuig ‘time-out’ para sa bag-ong mga botante.” What did his compadre do within the two years given them by Comelec? “Adto sa beerhouse ug video-k bars kada gabii hangtud nalimtan ang iyang obligasyon sa nasud.” my friend said. “Kamaayong duklon.’

OVERHEARD. A woman law student told a classmate that her father, a ward leader of a city politician, is telling senior citizens in their neighborhood that if his candidate for mayor wins they would be receiving 10,000 pesos a month. “Nasuko si papa pag-ingon ko nangilad siya sa mga tiguwang,” the student said. Her classmate replied: “Dili gyud ka mahimong maayong abogado, Day” The student said: “Mamahimo kong maayong abogada, Day, tan-awa lang nya.”
