Well it’s about time! The Makati Police will finally, after almost a month, file complaints of grave threat and slander by deed against Alan Bantiles, the father of the Colegio San Agustin student who was punched by another student who just couldn’t take the bullying anymore from the Bantiles scion. Thank God for small favors! This father barged into the school premises with bodyguard in tow, straight into the faculty room where Jaime Garcia was being detained, slaps him, hurls invectives and then pulls out a gun from the bag lugged by the bodyguard and points it on Garcia! All this in front of faculty members who did absolutely nothing!
Now, after almost a month from the time of the incident, there seems to be some movement regarding this act. Why it took this long for anyone, including Colegio San Agustin itself to act, is highly suspect! I mean, pulling out a gun on a high school student, within school grounds, in front of faculty? There are just so many things wrong with this one sentence alone, let alone be there when it actually happened!
This incident once again brings to the limelight two things that happen in most schools, bullying, and apathy from the school administration. It’s almost as if bullying is accepted, and that these kids should deal with it themselves. Even when something like this happens, when it gets out of hand, the school is still observing from the sidelines as the opposing parties are left to sort it out amongst themselves! I know they teach hand washing in schools, but this is just criminal!
Pity the whole incident was not caught on video. Or was it? This guy threatened the life of a young boy, an unarmed, defenseless high school student, with a bodyguard in tow. I wonder how he would react to someone his age, without guns and without a bodyguard beside him?
As for Colegio San Agustin, well what can I say. Apparently, they didn’t see something wrong with what happened. Right away.
