As Congress is poised to pass the RH bill
Last Monday, the House of Representatives voted to terminate the debates on the Reproductive Health bill and start the period of amendments. This means that this bill has hurdled the first step towards its final approval, an event which is likely to happen after the second reading.
This happening is no doubt a joy to the RH advocates – including PNoy and his cohorts at the DOH – but a big disappointment to the Catholic Church. For years the latter has wage a campaign against the use of contraceptives to control birth. It has vehemently warned against the tendency towards “moral darkness” (in the words of Pope John Paul II) which gives rise to violence, hatred, and crimes against person.
Obviously, that message has fallen on deaf ears. Even the 166 congressional representatives who had supposedly pledged support of the Church’s stand on the bill seemed to have shifted to the other side, otherwise, why the resounding “yes” to end the debate? They were invited to the Palace for a fellowship lunch and when they came back to Batasan they did what PNoy wanted them to do. What a bunch of unprincipled lawmakers!
These representatives and most of the RH proponents are undoubtedly Catholic by religious affiliation. But they forgot the doctrine of their Church when confronted with the choice between spiritual conviction and material benefits. Sunday Catholics, how typically Filipino these people are! How unlike San Lorenzo Ruiz who said at the moment of his execution that if had a thousand lives he would offer all these to the Lord!
Our congressmen believe in God, no doubt about that. But their loyalty belongs to another god, the god of gold. PNoy holds the PDAF gold, so he is the god of the congressmen. Bishops and priests? For social acceptance, they’re useful, but when it comes to counting noses at elections they are irrelevant!
On the very day when Congress literally said ok to the RH bill there was a sudden surge of flood waters in Manila and nearby areas, causing death and destruction. Few years ago typhoon Ondoy raged over almost the same area and hundreds lost their lives. These phenomena – are these not a sign that God is displeased by our hardness of heart and sinful ways? With our forthcoming acceptance of abortion, including the use of artificial means of birth control, aren’t we placing ourselves in the status of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Administration economists are saying that we could never achieve high GDP growth unless we control our population. But they are mum about the current economic woes of Japan, Italy, France, and other countries which strictly controlled population growth for decades. The United States, the haven of legalized abortion is presently reeling over a near depression state. Where are its Novel Prize winning economists?
On November 1, 1985, Our Lady of the Roses made the following prediction:
“You will understand and broadcast the message to the world that there will be a great destruction in the monetary systems of the world. It will affect both the United States and Canada, and all the great powers of the world. And I repeat again: You will go to your stores to do your shopping carrying papers which may as well be newspapers, for the value they will have to purchase their food will be nil.
“How can a great country like the United States fall, you say, My Child? You ask me in your heart, I read your heart. I will tell you why. Because they have given themselves over to satan. When a country has lost its morality and seeks the pleasure of the flesh, giving themselves over to all manners of abominations like homosexuality, and condoning this up the highest courts of the land, then that country shall fall”.
PNoy and our congressmen will no doubt laugh at this prediction. But it is happening right now not only in the USA but also in Europe. And it might happen to us once the RH bill becomes a law.
