DECORATIVE LAMPOSTS. The so-called Asean decorative lampposts are still lining along the roadside of the highway in the fashionable hotel belt in Mactan Island. They are considered eyesores. But one respectable business executive told The Ear: “If these lampposts were really decorative and therefore pleasing to everyone’s eyes, there is no need to uproot them even if they are not functioning anymore... They can stay there to decorate the highway.”
EYESORES. But a travel magazine writer, validating what the business exec said, wrote in an article: “These ‘decorative lampposts’ were eyesores from the very start, so they must be uprooted.” He asked The Ear: “Have you seen those lampposts around Manila’s Rizal Park area? Those are decorative and they enhance the beauty of the place.”
