The violent riot that occurred in Argentina after Pinoy boxer Junriel Casimero won the light flyweight title from his Argentine opponent was called a black-eye to boxing by some ring aficionados. No local official dared to stop the rioting. A similar rioting by boxing fans also took place in Zamboanga del Sur some years ago.
RIOT STOPPED. One man was able to stop the violent riot in which tough guys were involved. A GAB deputy (Cebuano) assigned in Mindanao solved the violence (chairs and empty bottles also flew to the ring like in Argentina). How did the Cebuano GAB deputy stop the rioting? An Ear informer said the GAB representative played the Philippine National Anthem on the public address system. “Nanindug ang tanan ug namutang sa ilang kamot sa dughan,” said our informer. The riot stopped and the boxing card was completed that night.
