Peanuts for Christmas

CASH GIFT. A barangay official is happy because he will be receiving a cash gift from a higher government official this Christmas. Although the said official will not be receiving the whole amount because taxes have to be deducted from the said cash gift, he is happy nonetheless. “Pwerteng lipaya oi pero mao lagi, makuhaan man og tax mao nang nagyawyaw sad ang barangay official,” said an Ear informer who is a close friend of the said official.

PEANUTS. The barangay official, who is known to be very thoughtful but tightwad at the same time, is sharing his blessings to his friends and colleagues by giving them peanuts, which he will cook himself. “Bisan wala pa nadawat ang cash gift, ni promise na gyud sya nga manghatag sya namo ug mani nga sya gyud mismo ang moluto,” said the friend.
