From poor farmers to hacienderos wow!

The farmers now own Hacienda Luisita? "Wow!" says my barber. "Only yesterday these farmers were as impoverished as I am. Now they're hacienderos."

As my Mandauehanon friends often say: "Do not 'segurize' the man under the mango tree."

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Sen. Gringo Honasan say: "Due process must be observed in the GMA case." I hope the process in this case has not yet become long overdue.

***

This "due process" thing, if not properly handled could result in the delay of the litigation and eventual solution of a case, says a fellow mediaman. "Sometimes, you see, everyone is careful not to mish-mash the process," he says.

The PHL is being promoted as a haven for divorcees and people whose marriages have hit the rocks. It is also being "sold" as a honeymoon destination by our tourism experts.

***

"At the rate we seem to be moving heaven and earth to attract tourists," says Noy Temiong, "I won't be surprised if even our pungko-pungko would be made to compete with our posh eateries as come-on for the foreign gourmets."

Some people are said to be claiming to have DOJ Sec. Leita de Lima disbarred. But Ma'am Leila is unfazed. No, no, her gunhandling practice as shown in the Philstar's enlarged photo of her on page one last Sunday (Nov. 27) had nothing to do with this issue.

It looks like, at this point (Nov. 29), GMA will have to stay in a police detention facility while waiting for her trial to start. Except for her supporters, everyone seems to be giving her the thumbs down re her desire for a house arrest.

One Fil-Chinese trader who begged that he not be identified ("Please don't even mention the mole on my neck," he said) said despite the seeming tough moments Ate Glo is going through right now, she's still luckier than Gadhafi, Mubarack and Saddam. "Look where they are now," my Fil-Chinese trader friend said. "And look at Ate Glo sitting pretty on a wheelchair."

***

Another friend who once headed a religious organization agrees with my Fil-Chinese friend. He says: "Yes, GMA is luckier than Gadhafi and Saddam because she headed a Catholic-Christian country where her opponents fire saliva not bullets."

I was asked what I could say about the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight on May 5. If this pushes through, I said, I would stay in my little room and pray the night away. Pray and pray for Manny's safety.
