One suicide a day among our people?

A man arrested for begging said: “It’s better to beg than steal.” The police officer replied: “Yes, right. But it’s better to work than beg.”

It says here that the chief of an auction office was arrested for rape try. Wrong spelling nearly did him in. He sent her a message that said: “Invitation to bed.”

In Indonesia, two hungry dogs, supposed to be man’s best friends, killed and ate their owner. “The dogs proved once more that they were animals,” said Noy Temyong.

Adolf Hitler once said: “There are friends, yes; but no such thing as best friends.” Those killer Indon dogs proved Hitler right.

At least one Pinoy commits suicide everyday. That’s not much of a drain in our “reserve” of 95 million and counting. But that’s not what Ninoy meant when he said: “The Filipino is worth dying for.”

E-mail from retired Army Sergeant Romanito Toring: “The government requires all banks, big stores, other major establishments to install CCTV in their premises as a measure against crime. Pray tell, how many robbers and burglars have already been arrested and jailed after being caught on CCTV?”

The PhilStar report on the defeat of the Ateneo Blue Eagles to the Adamson U Falcons (Sept. 11, 2011) was headlined “Falcons, Claw, Defeather, Feast on Eagles.” The headline pictured the fancied Eagles as completely mauled and bullied. Reminiscent of how Bin Laden defeathered the American Eagle on 9/11 10 years ago.

I heard it said in a TV program that the “rates” in Metro Manila’s red light districts have been noted to have dropped in recent days. “That’s the sad reality in this oldest profession,” says Noy Temyong. “When the prices of everything goes up, the rates in the so-called red light districts go down.”
