Thanks to those who sent me congratulatory messages on the 17th anniversary of Banat News. It’s seldom you see a community newspaper reach this far.

A political science professor said: “Many families are in politics where they find lots of fun.” He said fun. No “d.”

PHL officials are asking the US to ease its travel advisories as the terrorist threat has weakened. The threat that has gained strength is dengue.

Because of the rising dengue cases in PHL I won’t be surprised if the foreign embassies would continue to keep their travel advisories in place.

I got this e-mail message from Ernesto Paredes: “Whenever a ship figures in a mishap, the entire fleet is grounded. It’s not only the business interest of the shipping company that is badly hurt, the economy of the nation as well.”
* * *
Mr. Paredes’ e-mail continues: “If the government’s instrumentalities like Marina and the Coast Guard are certain that they’re doing their job in keeping the ships always in tiptop shape the year round, there’s no need to ground the entire fleet.”

Petron Blaze was the underdog in the PBA Governor’s Cup finals. Talk N’ Text was the heavy favorite. But not a few put their last shirt on Petron believing that every underdog has its day. The underdog came out the tondog.

Even between the two coaches — Chot Reyes of T n T and Ato Agustin of Petron… Ato was the underdog. Chot’s opinion was given more newspaper space than Ato’s views in the writeups about the championship series. Well, it’s Ato’s fault. He seldom speaks. Unlike Chot. Ato is like some congressmen who are heard only when they sneeze.
