ATTRACTION IN THE RAIN. During the heavy rain last Friday (June 17) afternoon many children of varying ages were seen enjoying the downpour in the middle of Colon St. With them was a woman of about 40 dancing and singing. The attention of the many pedestrians who have been stranded on the sidewalk was focused on this woman whose antics elicited wolf whistles and shouts of “Hala bira, hala bira!”
COULDN’T BE STOPPED. One boy of about 12 or 13 tried to make her stop what she was doing but she went on and on. The boy, it was learned was her son who cried, maybe of shame, and left the group. The woman, his mother, enjoyed the “hissing and whistling” of the crowd. “Is she high on drugs?” a Caucasian man asked.
