It pays to be courteous to strangers

- The Ear -

REWARDED. A department store salesgirl who showed unusual courtesy to an old woman customer got rewarded for her courteous behavior. The old woman, a balikbayan, gave her several pieces of gift certificates totalling P10,000. The amount was delivered to her by a personnel from a forwarding firm with a note saying: “Thank you for your courteous service. From a grateful customer.” The name was on a calling card with address in Anaheim, CA, USA.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE. The salesgirl was surprised. It was already more than a week after she served the old woman. “Nalimot naman gani ko,” she told an Ear informer. “Ang ako ra gyud tong nahimo mao nga gipaypayan siya kay tan-aw ko mura’g gikapoy ug gipaningot. Mura’g kakuyapon.” She also gave the old woman a glass of drinking water. The moral lesson here is: It pays to be courteous to strangers.
