SENTIMENTAL VISIT. A member of the Japanese Army medical corps during the war visited Cebu as a tourist last month. Among the places he and his granddaughter visited was what he remembered as a school in the town of Liloan, which was made a hospital for sick and wounded Japanese soldiers. He said the big tree (probably an acacia tree) in front of the hospital (actually the school) under which he tried to learn the Cebuano language from local residents was no longer there.
BROKEN ENGLISH.
The Japanese “returnee,” now 92, talked about the friends he made in Liloan in broken English. According to an Ear informer he seemed to have happy memories about his assignment in Liloan.
