Why is Lapulapu not in the banknotes?

With Merci the Ombud’s resignation, the grandstand has collapsed. The opportunity for some people to win pogi points has gone pfftt.

“More and more teachers are failing in the teachers boards exams,” says an interviewee on TV. Which means that it’s now not right to tell one’s daughter: “Kabugo nimo pag-maestra nalang.”

Today, it seems, only the bright teacher graduates can hold their own in the national teachers board exams, based on that TV interviewee said. So the mocking statement may now be changed to: “Ka bright nimo pagmaestra na lang.”

Newsfotog Loy Jurado (here he comes again!), who advises media colleagues to keep writing but never to write 30, has another classic statement: “I won’t write 30 but I do not intend to live forever because I will be bored to death.”

Another ageless friend, Daido Angel, feels disgusted that Lapulapu is not on any Central Bank paper bill. He looked daggers at me when I said maybe it’s because Lapulapu’s attire is banned in many places, especially in classy hotels and in places where high society people meet. Hehe.

Seriously now, I understand Daido Angel’s disgust. Why is Lapulapu not as welcome in our pockets as, for instance, Manuel Quezon, Jose Abad Santos, Ninoy Aquino, etc.? Lapulapu is a hero, too. Let’s put him in the P10,000 bill.

I was told that the fashionistas had their eyes glued on TV and took note of what the bride and groom wore in the Royal Wedding. The bride’s gown is the talk of the fashionistas. There are fashion designers who might copy the bride’s gown, or so I’m told.

But I haven’t heard of talks that some grooms are thinking of discarding the barong or coat & tie and copy Sir William’s red, blue and yellow military-like suit. That will bring color to the occasion.
