"Tibihon" looking resto customer felt aggrieved

- The Ear -

SICK CUSTOMER. An apparently TB-sick customer in an uptown restaurant recently got into trouble with a society matron who asked the eatery manager, within earshot from the “apparently sick” patron, if he allowed “tibihon people” to eat in his restaurant. By “tibihon” she meant a person suffering from tuberculosis.

CONFRONTATION. A near-violent confrontation happened when the customer suspected as “tibihon” stood up and accosted the society matron. There was an exchange of insults. “Ayaw ko nganli’g tibihon ha, abi kay mura man ka’g baboy katambok,” the aggrieved customer said to the matron who left in a hurry covering her nose with a perfumed handkerchief. The other customers were amused.
