Pinoy touched by devotees walking on their knees

- The Ear -

WALKING ON ONE’S KNEES. Devotees walking on their knees are a common sight in many Philippine churches, including the Basilica del Sto. Niño. “At first I thought this is ‘exclusively’ Pinoy,” said a local lay minister, “until I saw many ‘whites’ doing it in a church in France.” He said he also saw many knee-walkers, including some nuns, in Portugal.

NOT ANYMORE. The same lay minister said he used to shake his head on seeing Pinoy senior citizens walking on their knees at the Basilica. “Not anymore,” he told an Ear informer. “Gani molakaw na man sad ko sa akong mga tuhod. Nada ko sa kasinsero sa mga tawo dito sa France diin nakita ko ang uban naghilak samtang nagluhod nga naglakaw.”
