TAXI NOW ONLY FOR THE RICH. The Ear has received several complaints in opposition to decision of LTFRB to increase the taxi flagdown rate to P40 and the increase to P3.50 charge every 250 meters. “Dato nalang ang pwede mag taxi,” was the common complaint. Several readers have also said that office workers cannot anymore afford to take the taxi everyday. Many have said, “Mag jeep nalang mi uy. Mahurot man sab among suweldo kung mag taxi kada adlaw.”
RAK-RAK TAXI. The Ear has also received several complaints about rak-rak taxis or taxi meters that have been tampered with. The drivers have wires which they press every now and then to speed up the taxi meters and the passengers end up paying a hefty fare for just a short distance. Readers are requesting the LTFRB to penalize operators of these tampered meters. Readers’ common complaints are: “99% ang taxi meter gi-tamper, gibutangan og rak-rak unya tagu-an ang mga coins para sukli unya manglubag pa gyud. Dili maayong magpa-increase ang taxi.”
