I saw the most recent fight of our Nonito Donaire. He knocked down his opponent three times in three rounds. The way I saw it, the punching bag could punch better than Sidorenko.

Michael Buffer has not yet learned how to pronounce Donaire as it is pronounced here. It’s Do-nay-re, Mike, not Do-nair.

But Sir Buffer will eventually learn later how to pronounce Donaire correctly. I recall when Manny Pacquiao was still no big shake on the ring, Buffer pronounced Pacquiao something like Pac-you.

Speaking further of Manny Pacquiao, I watched his being interviewed on NBN by Freddie Abando last Wednesday night and he impressed me no end. I gave him two thumbs up.
* * *
I was not impressed by Manny’s Tagalog which was the language used during the interview but by his smart answers to the questions. “Maundanon,” someone said re Pacman’s answers.
* * *
My friend Daido Angel observed: “Manny’s answers to the question proved ... wa maapektahan iyang utok sa mga bogbog sa iyang ulo ibabaw sa ring ... Smart ug sharp gihapon siya manubag.”
* * *
The brightest Bb. Pilipinas beauty, most of them college graduates, could not hold a candle to Manny’s sharpness in answering off-the-cuff questions. And yet he was using a language not his native tongue.

Manny manifested his great belief and faith in God during the interview. He mentioned the name “Panginoon,” I think a hundred times. He stressed that it was the “Panginoon” who made him what he is today.
* * *
Asked what message he would give the Filipino people, Manny’s reply was quick and easy. “Huwag kalimutan ang Panginoon sa lahat na panahon. Magdasal palagi. Magdasal bago kumain, magdasal pagkatapus kumain. Magdasal bago matulog. Magdasal paggising sa umaga.” I say Amen to that.

How many of Manny’s colleagues in Congress are doing what Pacman says they must do?
