Turning a sports complex into the likes of a cockpit

LIKE A COCKPIT. A sports complex in a barangay where a pay-per-view coverage of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight drew thousands of fight fans last Sunday was converted into the likes of a cockpit (“buwangan”). There was open betting. Masyador or bet-seekers were around soliciting bets. “Lupig pa laging buwangan sa Carlock,” said an Ear source.

NOT UNUSUAL. Actually, it was not an unusual sight, said an Ear informer. “Bisan sa mga kan-anan, labi na karinderya duol o sud sa mga merkado publiko, kusog sad ang pinustaanay,” our informer said. This happens every time Pacquiao fights, he said.
