City flooding continues despite media warnings

FLOODED STREETS. Within a few minutes of heavy rain, the streets of downtown Cebu City become flooded. The public suffer the floods up to waist high in some areas. This has been a perennial problem for many years yet flood problem continues to plague the city.

MONTHS PAST. Several months ago, during the drought brought by El Niño, the media has already advised the city government to prepare for the heavy rains and flooding that always occur, but no considerable actions have been done to solve the problem.

RANTS. Several pedestrians yesterday were heard complaining of the flood. One said, “Kanus-a pa man ni masulbad ning baha sa siyudad uy? Mora’g 48 years na ni ha. Sige lang ta’g antos ani?” Another said, “Ngano wala man gyud ni aksyoni sa gobyerno? Salig lang sila kay dili man na sila mosulong sa baha. De kotse gud.” Yet another said, “Alangan, dili man nila mabutangan og nawong nila ang mga estero.”
