Readers upset over VECO's broken promise

- The Ear -

NOT THIS WEEK. They promised a return to stable power this week but it did not happen. Cebuanos will have no choice but to endure the continuing daily brownouts lasting for two and a half hours. A mother whose four children are beginning the new schoolyear bewail the effects of the daily rotation brownouts. She said, “Ingon sila mo-OK na karong semanaha. Wa man lagi. Ga-sige gihapon og brownout. Makadaot kini, dili lang sa among mga appliances, kun dili pati na sa pang eskwela sa akong mga anak. Dili makatarong og tuon kay ngitngit unya alimuot.”

EFFECTS OF BROWNOUT. Another reader said that he is concerned about the ill-health effects of these brownouts. He said that in his house, they use the electric fan, not only to keep them cool, but also to drive away pesky mosquitoes. He said that with the brownouts, his children now have mosquito-bitten legs and fears that they might get the dreaded Dengue. He said, “Napuno na’g pinaakan sa lamok akong mga anak. Makuyawan ko nga magka Dengue unya sila. Tungod lang aning brownouts.”
