Letter To The Editor: Shooting straight at the wrong target

I am not surprised that Bobit Avila has already dipped his pen into partisan politics because, if others do not know yet, he's a member of Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (a job appointed by Gov. Gwen Garcia).

Anyway, he has been trumpeting Gwen's performances and browbeating her opponents'. I am referring to his statement that of "the fifty million for feasibility study we have not seen a single map or document that shows the taxpayers' money was wisely spent" in his column in The Freeman, June 4, 2010.

Firstly, we spent not 50 million but 12 million for the project's pre feasibility study. Records are at the Provincial Treasurer's Office.

Secondly, I am inviting him to the Cebu Capitol Legislative Building where anybody can see the model map for trans-axial project at its entrance. As for the documents, I have them ready at anytime for him to go through.

He is also welcome to an audio-visual presentation of the Trans-axial Highway project anytime at his convenience.

Regarding the substandard asphalting, I am referring not to the status of the roads after rainy months, but of the asphalt composition itself, which does not conform to the standard mixture.

I use to respect Mr. Avila as a journalist But how I wish he would be again the responsible journalist that I remember.
